Brewed by using glowing hot gibraltar rock dropped into the wort, resulting in a carefully crafted pilz-style beer with body and subtle hints of malts & caramel.
The Rock of Gibraltar is, as you may know, is a spectacular formation at the entrance to the Mediterranean Sea from the Atlantic. It is often just called “The Rock”. It was known to the ancient Greeks as one of the two Pillars of Hercules. It is connected to the Spanish mainland by a mile-long low isthmus, and formed mainly of Jurassic limestone dating back millions of years.
With a touch of caramel minerality, the Rock pairs well with grilled food – especially if we are talking about a backyard BBQ on a nice summers day! The subtle flavours in Rock can easily stand up to the caramelised and smokey flavours imparted by grilling, and the Pils-style beer is as approachable as the dish itself.
